you know what they say about opinions?

Well? Is it true? Does everyone really have one? An opinion, that is. My opinion is that, yes, it is true… usually. The answer depends on the issue being discussed.

If you’re asking me about something that I don’t care about then, no, I probably haven’t invested enough time thinking about it to have an opinion. For instance, if asked which “boy band” is the best, I would say that I don’t listen to boy bands. I don’t even know whom any boy bands are. Hence, I have no opinion.

The Point

OK, for all of you who are wondering where I’m going with this, let me wrap this up.

The reason everyone has an opinion is because everyone cares about something! Even if the only “thing” you care about is yourself!

Are you being selfish with your opinion(s)? How are you allowing the general public to benefit from the wisdom you’ve gained through your experiences? Think of your strongly-held beliefs. How did you develop those beliefs? Why not share the experiences that made you think the way you do? While you’re at it, why not share your hobbies and other activities that take up the bulk of your time? You may soon find lots of people share your passion about different things. Those who disagree with your opinions may challenge you to defend your stance, the flaws in your reasoning will be discovered, and you will emerge with a deeper understanding of who you are and what you really believe. All because you shared your opinions.
