“Helping You to Find Your Place in the Currency of the Web” — that’s our tagline and on this page, we aim to explain what we mean by “Currency of the Web”. First, understand that the WordPres$uccess use of the word currency speaks to the two-headed aim of our site. One head is focused on communication and the other head is all about business.
This is certainly not science class but to make our point, we’re going to touch on some phenomena from nature as our idea of currency comes primarily from natural “currents”.
Power
One obvious type of current is seen in the flow of water. Standing by one of our mighty rivers, watching the powerful flow of water, it might seem like a one-way linear flow from the river’s origin to its destination. But a thoughtful student would ask, “where does the river’s origin get its water?” and then would find that the flow is not linear but circular.
Communication
Another obvious type of current is found in our use of electricity. It is what allows light switches to do their thing. Again, the flow of electricity, that is – electrical current – is circular and we speak of electrical circuits. We could keep mining this example, but instead we’ll move on after making one more point: even with all humans know about making calculations and building machines, none of our computers and computer networks that allow us to communicate globally in an instant would exist without electrical current.
Business
And our last natural example is the one that most people think of when they hear the word “currency”: the money we use to transact business. Just like the positive and negative charges in electricity, this type of currency is measured in credits & debits, income & outgo, profits & losses, etc. It is easy to grasp the circular nature of monetary current.
Putting it all together
From the dictionary, one of the definitions for currency is: “the fact or quality of being widely accepted and circulated from person to person.” WordPres$uccess applies this to both the circulation of Web media and the circulation of money. Thus, your place in the currency of the Web is dependent on you acquiring a vessel that will allow you to use the powerful flow of information and money to carry you to your destination.
Power – Communication – Business. Three words that we use to conceptualize “Web currency” and three topics that WordPres$uccess will keep at the forefront in every page and post.
